A standard water heater, also known as a conventional water heater is a storage tank that heats water and stores it until its needed. These heaters typically hold 40 to 120 gallons of water and use either electricity or gas to heat the water. Benefits to this is lower initial cost, simplicity and availability, no lag time, reliable in low flow situations.
A tankless water heater is also known as on demand hot water heater. It heats water only as needed instead of continuously heating and storing the water. Benefits to this would be energy efficiency, unlimited hot water, space saving, longer lifespan, lower long term costs.
